Yeah I said it. I purchased protools over 5 years ago. I purchased it because every one I knew at the time claimed it was the best thing since sliced bread. So I went out and purchased the Digi02 Rack for $2,000. Yeah I made better music after I bought it, but it wasn’t because of protools it was because I got better. One thing you don’t hear a lot when your starting off is, THE EQUIPMENT DOES NOT MATTER IF YOU SUCK, PERIOD.

My recommendation is avoid purchasing expensive equipment until you know that your good at making music and you understand the basics. Use what you have or can find for free upfront until you feel you have outgrown it. Chances are once you get to the point where you really need all of the bloated features that protools offers you will be going to a studio that all ready has it.  Stay light, keep your expenses low and focus on getting better.
